We would like to make you aware of our terms of usage for the site to help you have a great visit.
Please remain COVID aware during your stay at Dilston, follow good hygiene practices all of the time.
Camping season is April to October, the site is closed at all other times for visitors. Pitches are virtual for the booking system, if you book the building you normally camp next to the hut. The remaining field you can camp where you like.
Arrivals & Departures:
You may arrive anytime from 1500 on the day of your booking. You will recieve an email the week of your booking with access details on for keys to the building(if booked) and toilets. Please email if you have any specific requests for arrival times - we can arrage early access for putting tents up etc. but these are left at your own risk.
THERE IS NO ACCESS TO THE CAMPSITE VIA DILSTON MILL / PHYSIC GARDEN. SOME SAT NAV'S WILL TRY TO SEND YOU THIS WAY DO NOT FOLLOW THEM.
Entrance to the site is marked by a pair of curved stone walls from the main road.
The access to the site is via a private road if the gates are closed please make sure you leave them closed regardless of your anticipated time on the site.
Parents should drop their children along with their personal kit in the top carpark by the main road and walk down to the main site. The site access road is shared with the resident in the cottage and should not be obstructed at any time. The access road is not suitable for vehicles larger than a mini bus and is only wide enough for 1 vehicle, groups MUST manage traffic flow down the shared access road at drop off and collection times. Please be courteous to our neighbour that we share the road with.
We would appreciate it if your pitch/accommodation is left in a clean and tidy state before you leave, ready for the next guests, that campfires are cleaned and wood returned to the storage area next to the carpark.
Fire Wood:
There may be a small supply of wood on site but this is not guaranteed, you are advised to bring your own if you are cooking on open fires,
Vehicles:
Please keep your speed down to 5 mph whilst driving along the access road and on site, a public footpath crosses our access road.
Vehicles must NOT be driven on to the camping field to load and unload under any circumstances. If you have heavy equipment it is advised you bring suitable pedestrian means to move it to your camping area.
If you cause damage to the field by driving on you will incur a MINIMUM £100 charge for its repair.
Vehicles should be parked in the designated car parking area.
Building Users;
There is a fire detection system in the building if activated the alarm will sound in the building. YOU MUST STILL CALL 999 if required.
All users must make themselves familiar with the fire exits and assembly point at the flag pole.
The hatch between the kitchen and hall MUST be closed at night, the chains on the hatch can be taken off to allow the hatch to fold against the wall - IT IS NOT A SERVING SURFACE.
Users must bring all catering equipment, there is a 6 burner cooker, kettle, microwave and tall fridge. *** There are no pots, pans, utensils, crockery or cutlery provided ***
The building has sleeping accommodation for 6 people ( 2 room / 4 room)
Access to Building and Toilets
We have had to remove the ramp at the back of the building for safety reasons, whilst this was never ment as an accessable option for users there is now only stairs access to the toilet. There is no vehicle access to the building. Access is over a grass field if you have any questions regarding access please contact us at dilston@hadrianscouts.co.uk
The Speed limit of 5mph on the main entrance road should be strictly adhered to for the safety of all users of the site.
Behaviour:
We would appreciate it if your group would observe quiet time between 23:00 07:00 as we have neighbours at the top of the site entrance. Leaders are expected to look after their own members.
Water
there are number of water taps along the field the top section will be open to access the tap, there is a short length of hose attached to help you to fill water carriers, the taps do not automatically turn off, please make sure they are all correctly turned off after each use to conserve water. Please do not wash dishes at the taps or empty food waste at them.
Wet and dry pits
These must not be dug on site please put all waste in the bins at the main entrance (3 large bins - NOT THE SMALL WHEELIE BIN) If the bins are full, please do not leave bags outside the bins, you will need to take them home. We are not able to dispose of old tents/ broken chairs etc. we are charged a premium for their disposal this will be passed on to groups using the site the week they are left.
Departures by 1700 on your last day.
